Enhancing NYS PK-12 Teacher & Leader Preparation to Support Immigrant Students

On Monday, February 3, 2025, CUNY-IIE hosted a panel of experts addressing the urgent need to enhance teacher and leader preparation for educating and supporting immigrant-origin students in New York State. They explored the existing gaps within educator programs concerning immigration issues and highlighted the significance of culturally responsive and trauma-informed practices. The discussion underscored the importance of innovative strategies, such as reimagining education courses for pre-service educators and implementing professional development for in-service educators. This conversation emphasized how these changes can foster inclusive educational environments and better support the diverse needs of all students.

 
 

Supporting Immigrant-Origin Students in PK-12 New York State Schools

On April 7, 2025, CUNY-IIE hosted a panel discussing strategies to support immigrant-origin students in New York State PK-12 schools.
