Faculty Fellows Program
About the program
CUNY-IIE’s Faculty Fellows Program invites education faculty to redesign existing syllabi with a focus on immigration and education. This program aims to equip tenured and tenure-track faculty from any institution of higher education in New York State — specifically those within schools of education who teach in-service or pre-service educators — with resources and scholarship that can support them in teaching about the intersections between immigration and education in their classes.
As part of this program, CUNY-IIE developed a guide titled “Teaching at the Intersection of Immigration and Education” during the first year of the CUNY-IIE Faculty Fellows program. Our inaugural fellows—listed below—offered their valuable insight and collaboration that informed the development of this guide.
Program Highlights:
Interactive Workshops: Participants engage in four monthly sessions, focused on integrating immigration and education-related readings and assignments into their teaching.
Collaborative Learning: Fellows participate in optional “soundboarding sessions” to share ideas and resources with peers statewide.
Honorarium: Participants who complete all program requirements receive a $1,000 honorarium.
