This module is organized around three main areas of focus for secondary educators:

Focus A: Supporting Immigrants in Secondary Schools

Includes resources for creating a school culture that supports immigrant-origin students for those who might identify as “beginners in this work and want to learn more about some steps they can take as a school to show that all students will be supported in the school environment. 


Focus B: Beyond High School: College Access and Career Opportunities 

Provides an overview of federal and NY State policies around college access and financial aid, especially for students who are undocumented. 


Focus C: Spaces for Youth Empowerment 

Includes resources for starting a Dream Team or facilitating other youth empowerment activities.

 

About the Video Series

CUNY-IIE has worked together with educators and community members to create professional development modules around the Supporting Immigrants in Schools Video Series videos: Key Immigration Issues, Immigration in Elementary Schools, Immigration in Secondary Schools, and Refugees and Immigrants in Schools.
