Partnering with School Support Personnel
CUNY-IIE is looking to partner with New York State school support personnel who work with early childhood and elementary school students and their families.
The goal is to collaboratively develop a resource guide for schools working with immigrant-origin students and their families.
We are seeking school-based personnel who have demonstrated commitment to working with immigrant-origin students and families, including:
Parent coordinators
School psychologists
Social workers
School counselors
Early childhood center administrators
Office personnel
Librarians
At this time, we are not seeking classroom teachers, as the resource guide will be specifically designed to support school support personnel in roles that provide student, family, and community support beyond classroom instruction.
After completion, participants will receive a stipend of $500 upon completion of the project.
Participant Requirements:
Participants must have worked in a public school setting for at least 3 years, serving a sizable population of immigrant-origin students and/or multilingual learners.
Interested applicants should fill out this short Google Form by Friday, October 9th.
Project Details and Expectations:
Selected participants will take part in five 1 ½ hour listening sessions. During these sessions, they will share different aspects of their work and the areas in which they believe additional support and/or information is needed.
The meetings will be held via Zoom on the following dates:
Wednesday, October 28, 2026 from 5pm - 6:30pm
Tuesday, November 10, from 5pm - 6:30pm
Wednesday, December 2, from 5pm - 6:30pm
Wednesday, February 3, from 5pm - 6:30pm
Wednesday, March 10, from 5pm - 6:30pm
Participate in one 45-minute individual school visit or a 1:1 discussion of school context and practice via Zoom (depending on the location of your school).
Review at least one draft of the resource guide and provide feedback.
The application form will close once we reach capacity. Please note that completing this form does not guarantee acceptance. All submissions will be reviewed in the order received, as long as space remains available.
